Tips & Tricks for Weight Loss!

Blog #275

Lots of Diet Plans tell you tips and tricks to losing weight, but do they actually work?

Some Yes. Some No.

Is their a perfect diet plan? Absolutely not.

What works for one person, may not work for another. Everyone is different. Everyone's body type is different. Everyone's state of mind is different. Everyone's energy is different. The point is, you need to follow tips and tricks that actually work for you, because no one is the same and no one is on the same health-happiness journey as you are.

Here are some tips and tricks of mine that actually worked for me and gave me over a 100 pound weight loss and started my health happiness journey:

Tricks:

1. Lollipops.

I know what you're thinking. Lollipops? I keep these on my coffee table, so when I want a sugary snack (because yes addiction to sugar is a real thing) I grab a tootsie pop. I don't know how many licks it takes to get to the center, but I do know by the time I have finished it, my sugar craving has disappeared. I also took in minimal calories in doing so and I was satisfied.

2. Brush your teeth.

If at home, and you are not actually hungry, but you have the urge to snack on unwanted snacks – brush your teeth! Keep a toothbrush at work! Same thing – craving a dessert or snack your co-workers brought in? Sneak out and brush your teeth. It works to starve off that craving!

3. Keep healthy snacks in sight.

Arrange healthy snacks so they are front and center in your fridge, in your cabinets or in your pantry. Easy to grab first!

4. Out of sight, out of mind.

Of course, moderation is the key to healthy eating. And no one is saying you can't ever eat potato chips. But some snacks, you may not be able to just eat one portion or even in moderation. If these snacks are triggers for you, put them out of sight. In the back of your cabinet or pantry. Place behind the healthier ones. Out of sight, out of your mouth!

These tricks definitely helped me lose my excess weight, and helped me to deter my cravings and so many unnecessary calories! I hope they can work for you too!

Tips:

1. Plan your meals for the whole week.

Planning what you are going to make for meals ahead of time, will help you stay on track. It relieves your stress of thinking about what the heck am I going to make for dinner tonight?

It will keep you focused. It will help you plan healthy meals, instead of getting take out, or making unhealthy, spur of the moment quick meals. It will keep you on a budget. It will save you a whole lot of time in planning. After a long day of work, you don't have to think about what you are going to make for dinner. You have a plan and you can stick with it!

2. Join a CSA or do weekly trips to your farmers market.

Especially during the Summer, Fall and even early winter months. Getting fresh produce every week is so beneficial and healthy for you and your whole family.

Fresh produce tastes so much better from your local farms. Support your farmers and make better choices for you and your family! Eat your Veggies!

3. Drink your Water!

Staying hydrated is so important for weight loss and for every day! It cleans out your body. It keeps you full. I mean our bodies are made up of mostly water. We lose it everyday, so we need to constantly replenish it! What better way to give your body what it needs than by filling it up with what it is losing?

My trick? Add some fresh squeezed lemon or other fruit to your water jug! Tasty! Try to get as close to drinking 8 (8 oz.) glasses of water a day! I always make up my lemon water jug first thing in the morning. I have it with me all through out the day.

4. Start exercising slowly, and pick your exercise days and times.

Start slow, especially if you aren't doing any exercise. You can't just jump right in to rigorous exercise if you aren't used to it. Pick an exercise that you truly like to do, and that you know you can stick with. Start with a few minutes a day, and work yourself up to every day, or at least three times a week.

Put it on your calendar and work it into your weekly schedule. Before long, you will be craving that exercise and actually look forward to it. And guess what, it will help you lose weight too! A win-win! Grab a friend to join you! Get the whole family involved! The more support you have the better!

These are just a few of my Tips & Tricks - but there are so many other ones! Find what works for you and...

Start today! You can do it!
