Bread in a Bag

Updated: Dec 15, 2022

Ingredients:

  • 3 Cups all-purpose flour, divided

  • ¼ Cup sugar

  • 1 .25 package quick-acting rise yeast

  • 1 Cup warm water (temp should be between 120-130 degrees)

  • 3 T extra-virgin olive oil

  • 2 tsp salt

  • Olive oil or Melted Butter to brush on top

  • Rosemary, crushed garlic (optional) (mix with oil or melted butter)

Directions:

  1. Spray one loaf pan with cooking spray. In a re-sealable plastic bag, place 1 cup flour, sugar and yeast. Add the warm water. (make sure temp is between 120-130 degrees) (I used a meat thermometer) 😊

  2. Seal the bag and squish together with your hands to mix. Let rest 10 minutes at room temperature.

  3. Add 1 cup flour, oil and salt to the bag, then seal and squish together.

  4. Add the remaining cup of flour and mix until combined. Remove from the bag (will be sticky – flour hands first) and knead 5 minutes until smooth.

  5. Place the dough into the loaf pan and cover with a kitchen towel and let rise. (Approx. 2 hours until doubled in size)

  6. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Brush the top of the bread with olive oil or melted butter (add crushed garlic & rosemary if desired) and bake until golden brown, about 30 minutes.
