It's A Leap Year!

Blog 144

February 29, 2020

It’s yet again, another “Leap Year”! A leap year occurs every four years to help synchronize the calendar year with the solar year, or the length of time it takes the earth to complete its orbit around the sun. This means you gained an extra day this year! Another day to start or continue on your own health happiness journey!

To those born on this day, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO EXTRAORDINARY YOU! You Rock!

Here are a couple fun facts about your Birthday:

Why do we need leap years?

The Gregorian calendar, which now serves as the standard calendar for civil use throughout the world, has both common years and leap years. A common year has 365 days and a leap year 366 days, with the extra--or intercalary--day designated as February 29.

The length of the solar year, however, is slightly less than 365¼ days-by about 11 minutes. To compensate for this discrepancy, the leap year is omitted three times every four hundred years. In other words, a century year cannot be a leap year unless it is divisible by 400. Thus 1700, 1800, and 1900 were not leap years, but 1600, 2000, and 2400 are leap years.

What are your chances of being born on leap day? About 1 in 1,500. How lucky are you?!

Having another full day to the year is our chance to continue on with all of our progress we have made this year so far. It can also be a “do-over” day! Since we won’t have this day again for another 4 years. Let’s make the best of this day and remember why we started this journey in the first place!

Yes, it is really hard to stay focused this time of year! It is still considered the “Winter Season” and we have all experienced the winter blues, but remember Spring is just around the corner! YOU GOT THIS!

We all need days like this in our lives. The opportunity to have another day in our calendar is another opportunity for us to do great things with our minds and bodies.

Remember, we all make mistakes, any mistake that you make today, in three years from now will have been forgotten. So, No Worries! Be Happy!

Let’s fully embrace this day and celebrate all of the great things in our lives! Let’s create great memories that we will want to remember on this day. Remember, YOU GOT THIS today and every day!

Make today count… Take that Leap of Faith!
