Success! What does Success mean to you? To me, it means getting thru each day with a positive attitude and appreciation for what life has given me already, and what it still has to offer me!

Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out. Like being on our own weight loss journeys. It is not just about being successful at losing pounds, it is successful about losing lots of other stuff along the way.


It’s about losing all of that negativity about ourselves. It is about focusing on the present and getting off of our butts to do something about what we need fixed in our lives.


Success is all about taking those baby steps along the way, so that one day, we can just climb right up over that final big step and say: “I did it!” “I succeeded!” “I accomplished what I wanted to accomplish”! It’s about saying you can do anything, and actually doing it! Actions speak louder than words. Telling yourself everyday you are going to do something to help yourself on your journey is not a success!

But, actually doing something about helping yourself and acting on your words is!



When you have the right “mind-set” to start on your journey, your success will follow you right to the end! If weight loss is your journey, get that overweight mentality out of your head and start thinking like a thinner, healthier person with these strategies:



  1. Have Realistic Expectations. (You are not going to reach your ideal weight in a week!)

  2. Set Small successes. One day at a time.

  3. Get Support. Family and Friends are your lifeline.

  4. Create a Detailed Action Plan. How are you going to reach your success(es)?

  5. Reward Yourself. Reward yourself in other ways besides Food to make you feel happy!

  6. Ditch Old Habits. They never worked for you anyways, don’t hold on to them!

  7. Keep Track. Log-in or keep a journal every day.

Losing weight will be a result, but it shouldn't be the only goal. Take a Breath. Identify what’s holding you back from being successful. Don't Step on the Scale every day. Be kind to Yourself. If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, and then try again!

Choose your hard. · Realize that motivation wanes. · You are what you eat. · Expect defeat but never quit. Strive for progress every day and you will find your true success that will last not just a day, a week or even a month, but will last a lifetime!
